By Jessica Binns, Contributing Editor
The Dominican apparel manufacturer Grupo M and L.A. premium laundry and finishers Blue River Denim recently signed a joint collaboration agreement in which they will combine their strengths to upscale the finishes of denim, twill and knit products coming out of the DR/Haiti co-production model.

Grupo M's Fernando Capellan and Blue River's Tony Rodriguez reached the agreement last June and in August will launch the "Laundry Lab" in which new and innovative washes and finishes are being created for the global apparel
market.

The Grupo M "Laundry Lab" is being equipped with all the latest technology and will accommodate designers and product development teams from all current customers as well as new brands looking to tap in to produce premium products in the Caribbean country.

"This new venture with Blue River and their expertise is exactly what is needed to enhance and launch the new vision of our Denim Business where customer designers and merchants will have the opportunity to develop their new concepts and convert their ideas to product in our unique DR/Haiti duty free environment," says Fernando Capellan, president of Grupo M.

The Los Angeles based Blue River Denim will develop products with onsite personnel as well as in L.A. for the DR/Haiti setup; bring newness, innovation and years of experience from working the high-end fashion premium denim
market.
