POLO Brings 3D Body Measurement to Retail

POLO, a specialty company based in Germany offering motorcycle clothing and accessories has implemented 3D body-scanning technology from Human Solutions in many of its stores, with plans to roll out the solution to additional POLO stores throughout the year.

The company expects the solution to help customize fits for its customers: One of the most important demands made on motorcycle clothing is for individual fit that combines flutter-free properties with optimal freedom of movement.

Astrid Benten, design and product development, POLO, says the company chose the technology because: "a good fit is a must to enable the protectors in the clothing to perform in the best possible way." To provide the best fit, POLO first measures its customers in a contact-free 3-D procedure, and then compares their dimensions with its POLO collection sizes - a process that Benten says takes just a few seconds.

"The final step is then recommending the optimal clothing for the customer. And the Human Solutions technology also has an added bonus — the amount of time the customer has to spend on trying-on clothing is significantly reduced," she says.
