MFG.com Sourcing Site, WRAP Form Alliance For Apparel And Textile Community

MFG.com and Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) announced they have formed a strategic alliance to support the online apparel and textiles sourcing community.

The textiles division of MFG.com claims to be the world-leading sourcing platform that connects buyers with factory manufacturers of apparel, footwear, home, and commercial textiles.

WRAP, headquartered in Arlington, VA calls itself the world's largest social and environmental compliance certification program for the apparel industry.

It certifies individual factories (not the brand) that demonstrate proper adoption, deployment and monitoring of 12 principles focusing on compliance with local laws, workplace regulations, universal workers' rights, the environment, customs compliance and security.

With this new alliance, MFG.com members with WRAP certification can designate the distinction on their web-based supplier profile, in order to provide MFG.com buyers with a better understanding of the quality of the factory.

According to the companies, the WRAP certification, along with the MFG.com rating system will take the "guesswork" out of the due diligence process when looking for socially compliant suppliers of textiles and apparel.
