ASICS Purchases Outdoor Products Company for More Than $130 Million

Japanese athletic footwear and equipment company Asics announced Monday that it has agreed to purchase 100 percent of Swedish outdoors products company Haglöfs for 1 billion Swedish Krona, ($133.42 million USD currently). 

Asics, whose running shoes have been ranked among the top performance footwear in the market in past years, said in a statement:
"We are currently focused on further growth and expansion of our business on a global basis...Moreover, we are aggressively exploiting opportunities of M&A including the alliance with other companies to boost or supplement the existing businesses within our group."
