True Religion Adds Levi Strauss, Gap Vets to Board

True Religion Apparel appointed John Anderson and Marka Hansen to the company's Board of Directors.

Anderson served as president and of Levi Strauss & Co., with a 32-year career at the company, and Hansen is the former president of Gap North America. Both Anderson and Hansen are accomplished industry veterans, whose counsel will accelerate True Religion's growth and transformation.

"We are excited to add such talented individuals to our Board of Directors," said David Conn, CEO, True Religion. "They both bring an unparalleled understanding of the denim industry. John's background as CEO of Levi Strauss will be a valuable asset in guiding our business strategy and global operations and Marka's product expertise will help support the evolution of our iconic brand positioning." 

Conn added, "John and Marka will serve as a resource for our management team and we are fortunate to benefit from their insight as we continue to position True Religion for the future."

Anderson has made significant achievements in the apparel industry, serving as the President and CEO of Levi Strauss from 2006 to 2011. Throughout his 32 years at Levi Strauss,  Anderson developed a reputation as a leader who is passionate about product craftsmanship, consumer value and innovation with a focus on building world-class tea Under his leadership, Levi Strauss achieved a strong period of growth, completed a successful brand transformation, honed its focus on consumer engagement and made investments in key growth platfor Prior to joining Levi Strauss, Anderson held marketing positions at Johnson & Johnson and sales positions at the H.J. Heinz Company.

"True Religion is a strong, iconic brand with deep roots as a leader in premium denim," said John Anderson. "David has set the company on the right path and built an outstanding management team. True Religion is now well positioned to continue bringing innovation to the industry throughout its next phase of growth. Hansen is a leader in the retail industry with deep merchandising expertise and a 24-year history at Gap Inc. Serving as president of Gap North America from 2007 to 2011, she oversaw all aspects of the Gap brands as well as the launch of Gap's 1969 premium denim brand and its new store design.

Prior to this role,  Hansen served as president of Banana Republic from 2003 to 2007. Throughout her career, Hansen has held various merchandising positions at Banana Republic and Gap, playing an important role in the company's international expansion in Europe and Japan.
