A "hanger sustainability" committee of retailers and apparel companies, established by the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association (VICS), recently concluded that a newly created hanger could use 53 million pounds less plastic, while successfully reducing the cost of hanger plastic by $85 million annually.
