Market Career Moves: August 2008

Bagir Group has appointed Lowell Safier to the newly created position of sales manager for its men's division. Safier, who worked with Italian and American tailored clothing companies previously, is responsible for maintaining key accounts in Bagir's U.S. Midwest and West Coast territories, as well as generating new business.

Genesco, the Nashville-headquartered specialty retailer of footwear, headwear and accessories, announced that Robert J. Dennis, president of the company, will assume the additional role of CEO, effective this August,
as part of the company's internal succession plan. Hal N. Pennington, who served as chairman and CEO, will continue as executive chairman of the company. Genesco retail stores include Journeys, Hatworld and Lids, among others.

lucy activewear, a wholly owned subsidiary of VF, announced the appointment of Kira Karmazin as vice president of merchandising and marketing for the lucy brand. Karmazin has more than  18 years of merchandising experience and previously served as a vice president of merchandising for brands including Coldwater Creek, Victoria's Secret and Gap.

Polo Ralph Lauren has promoted Wayne Meichner to president and COO of Polo Retail Group. He replaces Jeff Sherman, who is retiring from the company. Previously, Meichner was president of Polo Ralph Lauren Retail Stores.

Tween Brands announced the appointment of Julie Sloat as vice president of investor relations. She previously held a similar role at American Electric Power (AEP).
